Predatory fish
Asian Swamp Eel

Asian swamp eel is an elongated, scaleless predatory freshwater fish. Has a snake-like body. Reaches weights of 1 kg.

Feeds on fish, frogs, worms, and insects. A nocturnal predator with a secretive lifestyle.

Most active at 20–30 °C. Extremely warmth-loving. Can breathe air and survive extended periods out of water.

Holds in shallow weedy waters, rice paddies, and marshes. Hides in burrows and under roots.

Caught on red worm, fish strips, and live bait. Basic bottom rigs. Fishing mainly at night.

Swamp eel is primarily a subsistence catch rather than a sport fishing target. For fishing, locate weedy floodplain waters. Be prepared for a slippery fight.
