Atlantic salmon is an iconic anadromous species. Powerful silvery body that turns bronze during spawning. Reaches weights of 30 kg.

In the ocean, feeds on fish and crustaceans. During river spawning migration, barely feeds — strikes lures out of aggression and instinct.

Migrates from sea to rivers for spawning. Timing varies by region — spring through autumn. In-river activity depends on water level and temperature (8–14 °C).

In rivers, holds in deep pools, rapids, and behind large boulders. Rests before the next stage of its upstream journey.

Caught on fly fishing (streamers, flies) and spinning (spoons, crankbaits). Fly fishing is the most prestigious method. Double-handed Spey casting for large rivers.
