Black Carp

Black carp is a large freshwater species native to East Asia. Has dark coloring and a massive body. Reaches weights of 70 kg.

A specialized mollusk feeder — crushes shells with powerful pharyngeal teeth. Also takes crayfish and large invertebrates.

Most active at 22–28 °C. Warmth-loving species, barely feeds in cold weather. Best fishing occurs in midsummer.

Holds in deep sections with rocky or gravel substrate where mollusks are abundant. Leads a bottom-dwelling lifestyle.

Caught on freshwater mussel, snails, and crayfish tail. Bottom rigs with heavy carp tackle. Fishing is challenging due to its specialized diet.

Trophy black carp is an exceptionally rare catch. Fish waters where the species is stocked. Use natural mussel on a large hook with strong tackle (4+ lb). Patience is essential.
