Peaceful fish
Blue Bream

Blue bream (zope) is a deep-bodied freshwater species with a bluish tint to its scales. Reaches weights of 1 kg.

Feeds on zooplankton, small invertebrates, and larvae. Unlike common bream, feeds more in mid-water than on the bottom.

Most active at 10–20 °C. Feeds throughout the warm season. Also bites through winter ice. Active in most weather conditions.

Holds in large shoals in deep sections of large rivers and reservoirs. Rarely approaches the bank.

Caught on bloodworm, small maggots, and worm pieces. Feeder with a long hooklink. Bait can be presented on the bottom or in mid-water.

Blue bream is often caught alongside common bream on feeder sessions. For targeted fishing, lift the bait off bottom using a long hooklink with polystyrene.
