Rudd is a golden-toned freshwater species with vivid red fins. Reaches weights of 2 kg.
Feeds on insects, algae, young plant shoots, and small invertebrates. Unlike roach, feeds more from the surface and mid-water.
Most active at 16–26 °C. Warmth-loving — best fishing comes on hot summer days. Active throughout the day, especially in the morning. Barely bites in winter.
Found among reed beds, lily pads, and dense aquatic vegetation. Unlike roach, prefers upper water layers.
Caught on bread, maggots, red worm, grasshopper, and dough. Float rod with shallow depth setting. Fly fishing with dry flies is also effective.
Trophy rudd hold in hard-to-reach spots among dense weed. Use side casts between gaps in vegetation. Bread crust on the surface is one of the most effective approaches.
