Snakehead

Predatory fish
Snakehead

Snakehead is an aggressive predatory fish native to Asia. Has an elongated body, flattened head, and can breathe atmospheric air. Reaches weights of 20 kg.

An aggressive predator. Feeds on fish, frogs, worms, and even small birds and rodents. Attacks virtually anything moving nearby.

Most active at 18–30 °C. Extremely warmth-loving. Best fishing on hot summer days. Can breathe air and crawl between water bodies over land.

Holds in shallow, weedy waters, swamps, and ponds with muddy bottoms. Survives in extremely harsh conditions.

Caught on frog-pattern soft plastics, poppers, crankbaits, and live bait. Spinning is the main method. Frog lures and topwater presentations are the most effective.

Snakehead fights ferociously and often dives into weeds. Use heavy tackle and thick braid. During the fight, do not allow it to reach dense cover.
