Yellowcheek (predatory carp) is a large predatory cyprinid native to East Asia. Has a powerful, elongated body. Reaches weights of 40 kg.

Feeds on fish, primarily surface minnows and small cyprinids. A fast, powerful predator hunting in the upper water layers.

Most active at 16–28 °C. Warmth-loving predator. Best fishing in summer. Active throughout the day, especially at dawn and dusk.

Holds in large rivers with current and reservoirs. Hunts in upper and mid-water layers.

Caught on spoons, crankbaits, kastmaster, and live bait. Spinning with long casts. Medium to large lures.

Yellowcheek is a prized Asian fishing trophy. Behaves similarly to asp. Look for surface splashes and crashes. Heavy tackle is essential.
