Fishing challenges โ€“ your catches already count

Fish and log your catches in the BeAngler app for Android and iPhone as usual โ€“ challenges count them for you, with no separate sign-up to take part. Ties are settled by clear rules, and winners get months of Pro and a badge on their profile.

You just fish โ€“ the challenge does the counting

A challenge is a contest that runs for a set time: it has a name, dates and a rule for what earns points. There is nothing to sign up for and no form to fill in. As soon as a challenge starts, BeAngler counts what you already do: the catches you log, the battles you play, the friends you invite.

Several challenges can run at once, and new ones appear regularly. The Challenges screen keeps current and finished ones apart, and the dates are right on the card.

What earns points

Each challenge has its own rule. For example: the number of public catches with a photo during the challenge, battles played with at least two people, battles won, or friends who signed up with your personal link.

The rules are written inside every challenge, so you know what moves you up the table before you even head to the water.

How much you have so far

Open a challenge and the card shows how much already counts for you: catches, battles or wins. In invite challenges you also see your place. If a catch was not counted, the rules tell you why: no photo, caught outside the challenge dates, or not visible to others.

Ties are never decided by drawing lots. For catches, for example, the higher total weight wins, then more different species, then whoever got there first.

Catches logged without signal count too

The best fishing is often where there is no signal. So after a challenge ends there are three more days: a catch logged on the bank without internet counts for the day you caught it โ€“ as long as your phone gets online at least once in those three days.

Then the entries are checked, and results are announced on the seventh day after the challenge ends. Notifications โ€“ the start, reminders, the final days and the results โ€“ arrive only during the day, between 10:00 and 21:00 your time.

Prizes, badges and the Hall of fame

Prize places win months of Pro, and every winner gets a badge that stays on their profile for good. The Hall of fame keeps past winners, and the Badges screen shows the ones you have collected.

Entries are checked before results are announced, and a player who breaks the rules can be removed. A catch that already counted in an earlier challenge with the same rule does not count a second time.

Invite friends with your own link

Every angler has a personal invite link in the Challenges section. A friend who signs up with it counts for you in invite challenges. Only one sign-up per phone counts, so the table shows real people.

Next to it is the Rules screen: what earns points, how a challenge runs and what fair play means.

Why anglers like challenges in BeAngler

No sign-ups, no extra work

BeAngler counts the catches, battles and invited friends you already log. All you have to do is fish.

Fair and clear

Simple rules, the same tie-break rules for everyone, a check before results and nothing counted twice.

Made for the bank

Catches logged without signal count for the day you caught them, if they reach BeAngler within three days after the end.

What are fishing challenges in BeAngler?

Challenges are friendly contests in the BeAngler app. Each one has a name, dates and a rule for what earns points. The BeAngler team runs them: several can be on at once, and new ones appear for a season, a holiday or just a fun goal for everyone. The list keeps changing, so this page is not about one particular challenge โ€“ it explains how they all work.

The main thing: there is no separate sign-up to take part. No "Join" button and no form. While a challenge is on, BeAngler counts what you already do in the app. If you log your catches, you are already competing.

What earns points

Each challenge has its own rule. For example:

  • Catches โ€“ public catches with a photo, logged during the challenge.
  • Battles played โ€“ battles with at least two people.
  • Battles won โ€“ battles you finished in first place.
  • Invited friends โ€“ people who signed up with your personal link; only one sign-up per phone counts.

Other rules may come later. Either way, the rules are written inside each challenge, so you know in advance what counts and what does not.

How ties are settled

BeAngler never draws lots. Ties are settled by fixed rules, so the same catches always give the same table. In a catch challenge with equal counts, the higher total weight goes first, then more different species, then whoever got there first. No guessing whether a tie was settled fairly.

How a challenge runs: from start to results

While a challenge is on, eligible catches and battles count. When it ends, there are three more days for catches logged without signal: many anglers fish where there is no coverage, and such a catch counts for the day it was caught if the phone gets online at least once in those three days. Then the entries are checked, and results are announced on the seventh day after the end. Read how the app works without internet on its own page.

Notifications come at the key moments โ€“ the start, reminders, the final days and the results โ€“ and only during the day, between 10:00 and 21:00 your time. A challenge will not wake you up at four in the morning.

Prizes and badges

Up to three prize places win months of Pro โ€“ the paid plan described on the pricing page โ€“ and a badge on their profile. The Hall of fame keeps the winners of past challenges, and the Badges screen shows everything you have earned.

Fair play

Entries are checked before results are announced, and if something is wrong, a player can be removed from the contest. A catch that already counted in an earlier challenge with the same rule does not count again โ€“ one big fish will not win you several contests in a row. If the rule asks for it, a catch must be public and have a photo โ€“ the same honest record as in your own logbook.

What you see in the app

The Challenges section shows current and finished challenges, what counts for you and your place in each, the Hall of fame, your badges, the rules and your personal invite link. It all comes from what you already log during a fishing session or a battle, so taking part costs you nothing but the fishing itself.

Challenges are just one part of BeAngler. Have a look at the other features to see how catches, sessions and battles work together.
