What you need

A balanced feeder setup matters more than an expensive one. For most still waters and slow rivers this kit covers you:

• Feeder rod 3.3–3.9 m with a quiver tip
• Reel 3000–4000 with a smooth drag
• Main line 0.18–0.22 mm or braid + mono leader
• Cage or method feeder 20–40 g
• Hooks 12–16, ready groundbait and bait (corn, pellets, worm)

Step by step

1. Pick a feeding spot and clip up your line so every cast lands on the same point.

2. Start with 5–6 quick feeder casts to lay a bait carpet, then fish over it.

3. Recast every 5–10 minutes to keep bait going in — consistency builds the swim.

4. Watch the tip: small knocks are liners, a sharp pull-round is the bite. Strike smoothly.
